Alex de Angelis was extremely happy to have made his first appearance in the premier class in 2010 at the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland over the weekend, where he finished 12th as he began a stint standing in for the injured Hiroshi Aoyama.

The San Marinese rider had been competing in the inaugural Moto2 campaign but was called upon by the Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team for Sachsenring, and he expressed his pleasure at being back on an 800cc prototype.

“This race has been a good one for me because it’s my first race in MotoGP this year,” he said. “I had a lot of fun with Loris (Capirossi) in the last part of the race. I was in last position but for sure in the next race I can achieve a good result.”

Already looking forward to this weekend’s round nine at Laguna Seca where he hopes to continue helping with the development of the satellite RC212V, De Angelis is also anticipating the GP weekend and test at Brno three weeks later.

“I’m happy because now I have a lot of data to work towards the next race,” he explained. “The objective is to arrive at Brno in good shape, where we can use the test day to make more kilometres on the bike and find some solutions.”
